Barbara Jane (Ware) Reed was born April 10, 1927 in Malvern, Ohio to the late Elzie Ware and Minnie (Black) Ware. She passed on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the age of 90 following a brief illness. Barb was a resident of Louisville for most of her married life and returned to Louisville after living briefly in Magnolia, Ohio after the death of her husband. She was an avid quilter, all of which she created completely by hand sewing. She was known to make quilts for family and friends for baby and bridal showers. Barb was always ornery and spunky, and was known to say if someone used a sewing machine for quilting, they weren’t a real quilter.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Reed in 1986, her parents Elzie and Minnie Ware, sisters Mildred and Ruth, and her brother Nate Ware. She is survived by her daughters Martha (Jim) Baxter and Sharon (Ron) Ross, sons Walter W. (Barbara) Reed and Richard (Sharon) Reed, grandchildren Rob (Jen) Reed, Tina Reed Powell, Shannon Channing, Sean (Tiffany) Reagan, Rachel (Marco) Millan, Robyn Reed, Walter Reed, Joe Reed, Michael Reed, Ashley (Thom) Schottelkotte, Kelly Maxhimer-Henley, Kim (Matthew) Kozub and Jamie Baxter, as well as over a dozen great-grandchildren and her faithful companion Gracie.

Funeral Services will be 11am Monday, January 15, 2018 at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Calling hours will be 10-11am Monday morning at the funeral home.
