Alfred Huthmacher Obituary

Alfred R. Huthmacher, 95 of Louisville, went into his Lord’s loving arms in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 8, 2018.  Born in Canton, Ohio to Parents, Russell Huthmacher and Gladys (Slutz) and Tony Manse on November 23, 1922.  He was a graduate of McKinley High School Class of 1939.

 

Al worked for Weber Dental Manufacturing Company for 37 years until its closing, then he sold real estate for Century 21 for a number of years.  Loving a good, competitive bowling game, he bowled in the Stier-Israel Bowling League for many years, carrying an average of 180.  He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns, whether they won or lost.

He, for many years, played in softball leagues in Canton and was a coach of the Little League baseball in Louisville. 

A member of the North Industry American Legion Post 440, he served in the U.S. Army attached to the Air Force in World War II as a radio repairman, stationed in India from 1943 to 1946.

He was a member of Fairhope United Methodist Church.  Preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Ardella (Files) Huthmacher in 1993 after 50 years.  Al is survived by his daughter Penny McCarty of Louisville, his son, Charles Huthmacher of Willard, North Carolina, his wife of 20 years, Greta (McFarren) Huthmacher, grandchildren, Tammy Jo Clapper and Michael Huthmacher, great grandchildren, Emily Clapper and Adam Umberger; great-great-grandchildren,  along with his sister, Elizabeth Yates of Canton Christian Home and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11am Saturday in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home of Louisville with Pastor Dan Edwards officiating.  Calling Hours will be from 6-8pm Friday evening at the funeral Home.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Canton, Ohio.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fairhope United Methodist Church in Louisville or the Waco Epworth United Methodist Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com
