Barbara Ann (Zwick) Haren, age 91, of Louisville passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in her home. She was born June 2, 1931. She was a long time Louisville resident with a very large loving family. Barb was the youngest of Herman and Florence’s 11 children. She graduated from Central Catholic and married her true love, Marvin in 1951 after dating him for only a few months. They had been together for 65 years until Marv’s passing in 2017. She and Marv ran several businesses through the years including a long-time masonry company. She was a long-time member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville.
She is preceded in death by two of her sons, Mark and Terry, son in law Mike and nine siblings. Barbara is survived by her four children, daughter Mary Ann and Don Shafer and their children Michele, Lisa (Matt), and Jennifer (Ressie), daughter Sue Case and children Megan (Anthony) and Nick (Heather), son Tim and his children Chad (Jen) and Troy (Caroline), son Larry and Stephanie and his children Bill (Jen), Mike (Sarah), Chris, Laura (Nate), Patrick (Kayla), Mark’s children, Amy (Justin), Tom (Jen) and her sister Rosemary Phillips. In total, she had 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.
She was a wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. She was the best mom and grandmother anyone could ask for. Some of her family’s fondest memories were putting puzzles together in the family room, playing card games around the kitchen table, baking and cooking together, making crafts and sewing projects, and celebrating the holidays. Her and Marv enjoyed playing slot machines and would take trips to Las Vegas, Tunica, Branson, and would even play at any little local 777. She also loved to watch and feed the birds and squirrels outside her kitchen window.
Barbara was the most unselfish person and never complained. She was grateful for all she had even with the heartache she suffered in her long life. She was so special to so many and could always put a smile on your face. Her family will cherish these memories and more forever.
Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville with Fr. Tom Bishop officiating. Calling hours will be 10-11am Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
