Betty Ann (Karas) Derry

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Ann Derry of Louisville, OH, a beloved member of our community, who left us on September 23, 2024, at the age of 82. Betty was known for her unwavering commitment to giving back and uplifting those around her.

Betty and her husband dedicated their life to the community and over the years they volunteered countless hours at the Louisville-Nimishillen Historical Society and the Ahh Gallery where their impact was felt by many.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Ronald E. Derry, daughter Rhonda (Doug) Dahlheimer, grandchildren, Marco (Lauren) Dalpra, Christopher (Michaela) Dalpra, Jordan (Bethany) Grubb, Megan (Michael) Graening, Laurie (Justin) Ferrell, Jennifer (Matt) Aller, Michael (Selena) Rossetti, 23 great grandchildren as well as countless friends and community members who were touched by her kindness. She was preceded in death by Christina Marie (Derry) Grubb and Jeffrey Ronald Derry whose loss she carried with grace and resilience. She often spoke of them with love and remembrance, keeping their memory alive through their stories.

Betty was a beloved figure in her community, recognized for her dedication and service through numerous awards. She received the Stark Parks Community Partnership Award and the Rotary Citizen of the Year Award in 2009, the Chamber Award for Community Heroes in 2010, served as the Constitution Parade Grand Marshall in 2019, and was inducted into the Senior Citizen Hall of Fame in 2022. Betty also played a key role on the Louisville-Nimishillen Historical Society Board since 2010, coordinated The Ahh Gallery since 2014, and was an active member of the Louisville 20/20 Vision committee from 2015 to 2020.

Betty’s career as a regional manager with Avon and Fuller Brush was marked by her remarkable ability to inspire her team, earning her trips to Paris, Hawaii, New York, and Las Vegas. Her warmth and generosity made everyone feel like family, a trait that carried over into her volunteer work, where she became a true pillar of the community.

In addition to her professional and volunteer efforts, Betty spent many years as a devoted caregiver to family and friends, always offering support to those in need. Her legacy of kindness and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday morning at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville. Calling hours will be 5-7pm Friday evening and 10-11am Saturday morning at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Louisville-Nimishillen Historical Society (www.Lnhsohio.org), honoring Betty's legacy of service and love for her community.
