Bob D. Schillig, age 72, of Louisville, OH passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer and dementia. He was born August 27, 1948 in Louisville to the late Lawrence J. and Eileen M. (Burgess) Schillig. Bob was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the Army, were he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Sharpshooter Badge-Rifle Medal. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and he was a member of the Louisville American Legion and the Louisville F.O.E.
Bob is survived by his wife Linda (Johns) Schillig, two daughters, Angela (Paul) Orosz, Stephanie Shinn; two sons, Christopher (Kristy) Schillig, Scott (Bobbie) Schillig; three sisters, Nancy (George) Linder, Diane (Mike Ciprian) Schillig, Linda (Joe) McElroy; a brother, Patrick (MaryBeth) Schillig; two sisters-in-law, Kay Johns and Linda M. Schillig; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence L, James and Donald Schillig. The family would like to thank the staff at Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center (especially F-Wing and A-Wing) for the kind and compassionate care that Bob received during his time there.
Bobs family will receive friends from 4-6pm Friday at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville. A short service with military honors will start immediately following at 6pm.
