Carrie Elise (Smith) McElroy

Carrie Elise McElroy (née Smith), age 92, entered her Savior’s embrace on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at The House of Loreto in Canton, Ohio.  Born on August 18, 1927 in McArthur, Ohio she was the daughter of Wilmer and Alma (Sims) Smith. Carrie always loved and appreciated her early farm life.
She met and fell in love with James McElroy while working at the old McCaskey Register Company. They became lifelong residents of Alliance on College Street and then Burton Ave where they raised three children: Terry, Joyce and Debbie.
Carrie made being a wife, mother and homemaker her full time career. She was a quiet, sweet spirit who loved her Lord and could often see the humor in even the challenges of aging. She and “Mac” were active members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Alliance.
Carrie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James (1990), her son, Terry (2019), her grandson, William (2003) and 10 brothers and sisters and their spouses. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Rick) Sams of Columbus and Debbie (David) Linton of Canton; her daughter-in-law, Cindy McElroy of Salem; her grandchildren, Bob (Sara) McElroy Katie (Luke) Hertert; Eric (Katie Horning) Sams, Ami (Jared) Adams, Adam Sams and Christopher Linton. Great Grandchildren, Samantha, Shea, Elena, Lucien, and Sebastian and brother-in-law, Richard Madigan of Los Altos, California.

Funeral services will be 11am Monday at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville, OH, with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Calling hours will be 10-11am Monday morning at the funeral home. Carrie will be laid to rest, beside her husband, in Highland Memorial Park, Beloit, OH.
