Dale Marks Obituary

Dale Wayne Marks, age 85, lifelong resident of Louisville passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at Winter Haven Hospital in Florida, of a newly diagnosed, aggressive lymphoma. Dale is a graduate of Louisville High School Class of 1954 and attended Ohio State University. He retired in 2009 as the owner of Marks & Taylor Realtors after 50 years in business. He served as Past President of both the Stark County Association of Realtors and the Ohio Association of Realtors, Past Regional Vice President of the National Association of Realtors, State of Ohio Real Estate Commissioner for 10 years, and a member on many other local, state, and national real estate committees. He also served on the Board of Trustees for the Central Stark County YMCA and the Malone College Board of Trustees. Dale was awarded the YMCA Red Triangle Award for extended and exemplary volunteer service; and had been a longtime member of the Louisville Rotary Club. He was a member of Paradise United Church of Christ Louisville for 63 years where he served as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder. Dale was also an associate member of Hope Presbyterian Church, Winter Haven, Florida.

Dale is survived by his loving wife, Lois, of 64 years, children Michael (Nancy) Marks in Apex, NC and Beth Marks of Evanston, IL, grandchildren, Jennifer (Trey) Holland, Pittsboro, NC and Kristi Marks of Fuquay-Varina, NC, sister, Linda (John) Legros, Gambier, OH, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Etha (Linerode) Marks, sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna (Ronald) Miller and Jane Ann (Wayne) Meadows, and nephew Rodney Meadows.

The essence of Dale is captured by his love of family and friends. Dale also loved playing golf with friends, sharing his love of flying his plane so that others could soar, and traveling with his wife to visit family and friends across the U.S. and abroad. Dale and Lois enjoyed being Floridians for the past 16 years during the winter season. His passion for photography created many memories for everyone. Dale especially loved Shadoe, their cat. He will be forever remembered for his intense curiosity, love of life, and eternal optimism, passion, and joy. Dale was blessed and he generously shared his blessings – an easy, cherished friend.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Stier-Israel Funeral Home, 917 E. Main St., Louisville, Ohio 44641, from 10am until 12 noon; a Memorial service will begin at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev.
