David Hugh Maxwell, age 85, of Louisville, OH went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 22, 2024. He was born December 4, 1938 in Homeworth, OH to the late Hugh and June (Fall) Maxwell. He graduated from Mount Union College and earned his Master’s Degree from Akron University. Dave spent more than 30 years in public education and was a retired principal from Parkway Elementary School in Alliance, OH.
Dave is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marlene (Boger) Maxwell - Married on March 26th 1965 by the Reverend Harold Davis of First Christian Church; two daughters, Laura (Joe) Murnane, Cynthia (John) Murnane; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Keenan) Gutshall; two great-grandchildren, Emmett and Wyatt.
After losing his mother June as a toddler and while his father Hugh was serving during WWII, Dave was raised by his late Aunt Vera and Uncle John at the family farm in Homeworth. Dave was also preceded in death by his grandma (Lana Maxwell).
Dave was a lover of knowledge and an avid reader; one of his favorite authors was C.S.Lewis: “When Christ died, He died for you individually just as much as if you'd been the only man in the world.”
Funeral services will be 6pm Thursday evening at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville with Pastor Dave Whitman officiating. Calling hours will be 5:30-6pm Thursday at the funeral home. David will be entombed at Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton, OH. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com
