Donna Jean (Puhak) Kushner

Donna Jean Kushner, age 69, of Paris, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023. She was born Nov. 28, 1954 in Warren, Ohio, to the late John and Mary Puhak. Donna graduated from Brookfield High School in 1972 and completed nursing school in Trumbull County. She was a registered nurse for 31 years at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, followed by working as a home health nurse in Stark County, retiring in 2022. Over the years, Donna was a caregiver for many of her friends including Lisa, whom she looked after in her final months. Donna’s nursing career inspired her son and daughter to become nurses. She and her husband, the late Frank Kushner Jr., shared 41 years of marriage. Donna carried on their favorite pastimes of listening to music and watching “Jeopardy!” every night. Donna was a longtime and active member of Israel Lutheran Church in Paris. She was a great neighbor who also helped with events and gatherings in Paris, often giving of her time to help others. Donna enjoyed spending time with loved ones, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved traveling, the beach, going to concerts and watching Time Warner Classic movies. 

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Kushner Jr., in 2018, and two brothers, Mark and Bill Puhak. She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Mark) St-Pierre; her son, Richard (Stephanie) Kushner; a sister, Maryann (Ivan) Green; two brothers, Pat and Kenny Puhak; and three grandchildren, Lydia, Reed and Rhettly.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (12-27-23) at Stier-Israel Funeral Home, Louisville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (12-28-23) at Israel Lutheran Church, Paris, Ohio. Donna will be laid to rest, beside her husband, in the Paris Cemetery.
