Dorothy Marie Bricker (Duplain), age 80, of Louisville, Ohio, ended her tour of duty on January 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 4, 1944, in Louisville, Ohio, to the late Russell and Sophia Duplain. Dot was a devoted Christian and a member of St. Louis Church in Louisville, where her faith was a central part of her life. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Mark Cuenot; her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Debbie Bricker; and her son and future daughter-in-law, Jason and Taryn Bricker. She was the proud grandmother of Rachel, Lauren, Jacob, Joshua, and Kristen. She leaves behind many relatives and countless friends who wrote on the tapestry of who she was, while she touched them with her loving, feisty soul. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith touched everyone she encountered.
Dot was a dedicated and hardworking woman with a tenacious spirit who made a significant impact in both her professional and personal life. She spent her lifetime reinventing herself, starting out a stay-at-home mom who ironed her husband’s hankies, finishing her GED when the kids went to grade school, going to college when the kids did, becoming an executive and entrepreneur of many things yet never losing sight of what really matters; Family, Faith and Love.
The family came first. She was always the loudest cheerleader for her kids and grandkids alike. Fun sleepovers with the grandkids after a long week of running businesses was common. Beauty sessions with all the granddaughters, then letting them practice on grandpa, in depth discussions about car parts with the grandsons, having no idea what any of it meant. Whatever was important to all of them was important to her.
She was always there to pass on love and joy to anyone who wanted to stop by. Friends and family alike were drawn to the aura she created. She somehow fit more than 24 hours into each day, often saying “I’m going to live until I die!”, and she did just that.
Dottie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph “Cookie” Bricker, who passed away in 2022. Dot and Cookie were the example of a marriage where sacrificial love for one another was the cornerstone of the home they built together. Even though she had three children, she always said she really raised four and the most difficult one turned out to be Cookie. Back together again in their full glory one can only imagine how God is using their unique love for His kingdom.
Dot’s legacy of love, leadership, and devotion to her family will be cherished forever. She leaves us with an authentic way of being that we can only hope to repeat. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Dottie’s life will be held 10AM Saturday morning at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville with Fr. Tom Bishop officiating. Her family will receive friends from 9-10AM Saturday morning at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com
