Duane A. Rine, age 65, of Waynesburg, OH passed away Monday, December 27, 2021. He was born May 24, 1956 in Canton, OH to the late Weldon and Martha (McDougal) Rine.
Duane dedicated most of his time working on the Railroad. He was a hardworking man. When not working, he enjoyed being out in a farm atmosphere. He loved his horses and animals, tending to the garden, and hunting and target shooting. Those who knew him were witnesses to his life. They witnessed a man who had a deep heart, a man who was self-sacrificing, and who enjoyed simple things and good jokes. Those who knew him, also knew that he loved his children and that he was proud of all of them.
In Duane’s last days and hours, he kept his humor. Even while lying upon a hospital bed, he would tell jokes. He said, “You know, over the centuries that have gone by that (he points to the nurse’s white board) is the most remarkable invention because it is re-markable.”
Another thing that needs to be known about Duane is that he died in peace, receiving the promises of Mercy. Around the 3:00 hour, a Catholic priest came to him and anointed him. An image of Divine Mercy was placed at his feet and the Divine Mercy Chaplet was prayed at his bedside. When he looked upon the Divine Mercy Image, he smiled, and his face glowed. He truly died in the peace and mercy of Christ.
Duane is survived by five daughters, Kelly (Jason) Anthony, Dawn Rine, Carolynn St Charles, Katherine (Daniel) Livesay, Christina Rine; a son, Stephen Rine; his sister, Doris (Frank) Bessasparis; four brothers, Tom, Dale, Russell and Kevin Rine; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death a brother, Leroy Rine.
A family memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church in Waynesburg, OH. Duane will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery, Louisville, OH. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com
