Eileen (Weisent) Kress, age 97, of Louisville, OH passed peacefully on January 1, 2024 surrounded by love. She was born on December 29, 1926 in Fulda, Ohio to Walter and Ella (Michel) Weisent. Eileen graduated from Caldwell High School in 1945. Eileen married Vincent Paul Kress on July 10, 1948. She will be remembered for the loving care of their son Jimmy until his death at age 16. Eileen was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She tended her home, her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Mom and Dad loved fishing, camping and traveling. Eileen was especially good at giving directions to others. She was an avid reader, loved a good game of Euchre and had an incredibly quick wit. She earned a wide reach of followers as a celebrity on what she called “The Faceplace”.
Eileen is survived by daughter Pat (Ed) Harrison, son Ed (Lorraine) Kress and daughter Shirley (Mike) Kandel. Their 8 grandchildren include Allen, Andy, Amy, Julie, Mark, Brian, Brad and Brittany. Their 5 great grandchildren are Dylan, Kailyn, Paige, Eleanor and Kowen, with a newest great grandson due any day. Also survived by sister Ardella Schrader, brother Clem Weisent and sister in laws Judy Weisent and Rosie Weisent. She is preceded in death by husband Vincent in 2017, Son James Vincent Kress in 1969 and brothers Ruben, Carl and Kenneth and sisters Bertha, Helen and Violet.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 6th at 10:00AM at St Louis Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Humerickhouse as celebrant. Friends and family may call on Friday January 5th from 4:00-6:00pm at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville. Eileen will be laid to rest, beside her husband, in St. Louis Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beech Creek Botanical Gardens. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com
