Frances "Nan" Sloan

Frances “Nan” Sloan (Powell), age 97, of Louisville, OH passed on December 23, 2025. Nan was a lifelong member of Eastern Star Legacy Chapter #596, and an elementary school teacher for over 40 years. Mrs. Sloan found joy in teaching 4th grade, and one of her proudest accomplishments was implementing a reading literacy program in the Louisville school system.

Nan was preceded in death by her husband James O. Sloan, and her son Randy Sloan. She is survived by brothers Robert, William, Calvin (Gerri), son Rick (Timmi), daughter-in-law Karen, grandchildren Nathaniel, Megan, Matthew, Kate (Corey), and great-grandchildren Juniper, Oliver, Arlo.

Per her wishes, a graveside service will be held 11am Monday December 29 at Warstler Cemetery, Canton OH, with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Stier Israel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please take a quiet moment and read something inspiring.
