Gilbert "Gib" Reiman Obituary

Gilbert A. Reiman, age 85, passed into his eternal home with the Lord, on February 4, 2021. Through declining health near the end of his life, Gib was lovingly cared for by his wife Patricia, his adult children and the staff of Aultman Hospice and the Compassionate Care Center.

Gib grew up in Canton, Ohio, with his parents and siblings. He graduated from Canton McKinley High School, where he excelled in music while playing in the drum corp. Gib enjoyed playing cards, singing in the church choir, barbershop quartet, and making music harmony with his brother and sisters. He was a member of Martin Luther and Holy Trinity Lutheran Churches and is currently a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Gib developed a passion and talent for bowling at a young age which later led to his induction into the Greater Canton Amateur Bowling Hall of Fame. He became a skilled sheet metal craftsman and installer for RJ Breining and Sons Sheet Metal and worked there until his retirement. He enjoyed the pleasure of singing in his church choirs and with the Hall of Fame Barbershop Chorus.

Married 60 years to his beloved wife Patricia, whom he coincidentally met while bowling. Together they created and raised a big, beautiful family of 9 children in Louisville, Ohio. Blessed are we that call him Dad, who received his support with our music lessons, school activities and sports. As busy as life was, Dad made sure we attended church regularly and found time to coach our Louisville YMCA swim team. Dad loved the outdoors, golfing, family camping and fishing. In his retirement years, he “wintered” in Florida with Mom where they enjoyed park life activities, games, and cruise travel with dear friends from across the country. Dad had a special gift of making beautiful wood crafts and has gifted us with beautiful guitars and wood art that he enjoyed creating in his Florida workshop. His greatest pride and joy was watching his children raise their families. Gib was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, friend, and proud Papa.

Gilbert is survived by his wife Patricia (Grimm), their children and spouses: Kelly (Dennis) Royer, Jodi (Marty) Constantine, Michael (Wendy) Reiman, Tricia (Scott) Louden, Holly (V. Robert) Colón, Jamie Reiman, Wendy (Greg) Seemann, Charles (Kristen) Reiman, Marlee Jo Reiman, and their families. Papa Gib would tell you that he has been blessed immeasurably to have shared life with his large family, now at 24 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and still growing. His presence in our lives will be greatly missed.

Gilbert is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Girard, Janet Whitacre, sister-in-law Mary Lou Reiman and brother-in-law Robert Grimm as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret (Eakin) Reiman, brothers, Eugene and Charles, and his sisters, Marilyn, Patricia Breining and Susan Summer.

Our family would like to thank the staff of Aultman Hospice, Palliative Care and the Aultman Compassionate Care Center for their support and loving care. A private family celebration of life is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gilbert’s name to, Aultman Hospice and Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Avenue, Canton, Ohio 44708,  https://aultmanfoundation.org/home/giving/choose-your-good/hospice
