Greta (McFarren) Huthmacher, age 92, of Louisville, OH passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 14, 2022. She was born January 21, 1930 in Canton, OH to the late Erik and Doris (Larsen) Borgen. Greta was retired from the Canton Repository after 46 years of service. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Waco. She was a member and past president of the North Industry American Legion Ladies Aux. Post 440 and the Stark County Council, and Buckeye Girls State. Greta also organized reunions and luncheons for the Repository Retirees and the Timken HS Alumni of her 1947 graduating class. She was preceded in death by her first husband, of 44 years, Dale R. McFarren; her second husband, of 21 years, Alfred Huthmacher and her brother, Charles Borgen. Greta is survived by a step-daughter, Penny McCarty; step-son, Charles (Gina) Huthmacher; two grandchildren, Tammy Clapper and Michael Huthmacher and several great and great-great-grandchildren. Greta will be remembered by so many for her kind heart and caring nature, her beautiful smile, class, quick wit, for always taking the time to “just catch up and chat”, and the best buttermilk cookies anywhere. Greta will not want her death to be mourned, but her life celebrated, and we are all better for having had her in ours.
Funeral services will be 10am Tuesday at the Epworth United Methodist Church, 2150 17th St SE, Canton, OH 44707 with Pastor Dan Edwards officiating. Calling hour will be 5-7pm Monday evening at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville. Greta will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Burial Park, Canton, OH.
