Janice M. (Monroe) Hamilton

Janice M. Hamilton, Age 82, of Louisville, OH passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023. She was born on February 22, 1941 in Amsterdam, OH the daughter of the late Kenneth R. Monroe and Betty J. Cvengros. She went to Canton Lehman High School, Malone College and The Ohio State University where she met her husband of 61 years, Deane Hamilton. They lived in VA while Deane was in the Army, Arkansas for a short while, and then Canton before moving to Louisville in 1976.

Janice was an active member of her churches throughout the years and cherished her lifelong friends from Christ Church of Louisville and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton. Janice was a witty, creative, loving, caring soul with a great laugh who always put others first. She loved babies, kids, books, bridge, cards, games, puzzles, crafts, fishing, chocolate, her grand dogs and hunting for shells on the beach. She was a fun grandma and known as “Aunt Janice”, “mom” and “my other mother” to many. And of course, she out fished her husband by catching a 6 foot muskie at Salt Fork!

In addition to her husband, Deane, Janice is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Hamilton (Paul Denney), two granddaughters Meghan Hamilton (Scott Mundis) and Mira Denney, and one great grandson, Bennett Colt Mundis. She was preceded in death by her son Jonathan Hamilton (Lou Ann) and her brother Michael Cvengros.

Funeral services will be 11am Saturday (9/16) at Christ Church (Formerly Christ United Methodist) in Louisville 600 E. Gorgas Street, Louisville, OH 44641 with Pastor Michael Grant officiating. Calling hours will be 10-11am Saturday morning at the church. Janice will be laid to rest in Warstler Cemetery, Canton, OH.
