It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jill Suzanne Saeger, 83, of Louisville, Ohio. Born July 26, 1942, she left us on February 14th, 2026, in Old Tappan, New Jersey, leaving a void that can never be filled. With Jill’s departure we remember a life full of immense love, laughter, and a little sass.
Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and John Schadl, and in-laws Erma and Homer Saeger. She leaves behind her Husband Ken, sons Kevin (Kelly) and Mark (Evan), her 5 grandchildren Veronica Saeger, Angelika Kaskinen (Joshua), Augustine Saeger (Andrea), Isabella Saeger (Alexander), and Wyatt Saeger (Kaitlyn), her great-grandson Harvey Kaskinen, and a precious great-grandson on the way.
She also leaves behind many who loved her, her brother Michael Schadl (Dottie), Sister in laws Laura Saeger (Rudy), Janice Saeger and Kay Storch (Dick), 11 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, best friend Sandra Menegay, and many great neighbors from Airpark Drive.
Jill grew up in Akron, Ohio until she went to Otterbein College. It was there that she met the love of her life, Kenneth Saeger. The two of them married on December 3, 1961 and later moved to Louisville, Ohio where they created the house of their dreams and raised their two sons.
She wore her heart on her sleeve, which often meant her grandchildren had to decide which children’s movie would make her cry the least. Jill loved the whimsy and magic of Disney, collecting beautiful keepsakes and trinkets and sharing that love with visits to the park with her grandchildren. While babysitting, she regularly created games and make-believe that turned into cherished memories.
Her feminine beauty and love of rare and precious things was often reflected in the beautiful jewelry she wore. Some pieces, a time capsule of the most important moments in her life. Even when she was downsizing for her move to Old Tappan, she wanted to keep all of her bracelets and rings to look at and play dress-up.
So at odds with this gentle nature was a sassy side. She was a highly competitive card player and defender of those she loved. She fought for justice, fairness, and peace. In times of darkness, she was a bright shining light. She leaves behind a legacy to strive for goodness and kindness for everyone.
We let go of a remarkable woman, a loving mother, a devoted grandmother, and a kind soul. Her warm hugs, unmistakable smile, child-like whimsy, and sing-song phone calls will be sorely missed. As we mourn her, we celebrate her love, joy, and kindness that was the essence of Jill’s being and will be her legacy.
Services will be held at Stier Israel Funeral Home on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM led by Gus Saeger. Burial to follow at Union Cemetery, Louisville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
