Lee Roy Harmon

Lee Roy Harmon, age 91, passed from this earth and into Heaven during the early morning of Thursday, July 7, 2022.  Lee was a resident of Louisville, Ohio where he lived close to his eldest son’s family, Pastor Michael and Kathy Harmon of the Louisville Baptist Temple.

Lee was born on July 10, 1930, in Rocket, Texas to Leroy and Maude Harmon. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, two children, and one grandchild.  He had five siblings, raised seven children, and has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lee lived in Texas until 2005.  While in Texas, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy, worked for the railroad, owned a hair salon and spa, dabbled in real estate, was a sales manager for the Railroad Express Agency, led investments in the oil industry, and served as President of the American Small Business Association.  His entrepreneurial spirit led him to many adventures throughout his life.

In 2006, he moved to Louisville, Ohio to live near his son Michael.  While in Ohio, he channeled his energy into the church and invested his life in helping Louisville Baptist Temple.  Lee helped with many building projects, outdoor landscaping, and the renovation of the “Missions House” the church once owned.  Many of these projects would be completed with the help of his special friend, Joann Gore.

As Lee’s health deteriorated over the past few years, he went to live at the Altercare of Louisville; the family would like to express their appreciation to all the staff who cared for him.

Lee’s life will be celebrated on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at the Louisville Baptist Temple with a memorial service beginning at 4:00pm; friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.  Following the service, there will be a birthday cake celebration in the church fellowship hall in Lee’s honor as this day would have been his 92nd birthday.

Because of allergies and sensitivities, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Louisville Baptist Temple Building Fund, 6565 Columbus Rd. Louisville, Ohio 44641

As a proud veteran, Lee will be laid to rest with his comrades in a private family service at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
