Lois Fay Thompson, age 93, of St. Mary’s, OH, formerly of Louisville, OH passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021. She was born December 15, 1927 in Parkersburg, W. Virginia to the late Harry and Ruth (Cole) Highland. Lois was a 1946 graduate of Parkersburg High School. She was very proud to have worked at a coal company store in southern West Virginia in her early working years. After moving to Ohio and working for the Hoover Company she retired after 22 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Thompson, in 2013, sister Dolores (Al) Meyer, brother William (Mae) Highland, brother Donald (Retha)Highland, sister Mary Jean (Emril) Dawson, sister Patty (Noah)Young, and brother Harry Lee Highland. Lois is survived by her daughter, Donna (Chad) Hoskins, a brother, Walter (Ona) Highland, three grandchildren, Jeremy Hoskins, Jennifer (Justin) Sanders, and Michael (Ellie) Hoskins, and six great-grandchildren (Korbin, Jaiden, Joelle, Ava, Hayleigh, and Jordyn). She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews including Terry Brooks (who was like a second daughter to her), great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews who she kept up with on Facebook. Family was very important to her.
Lois kept busy by sewing (every family member had a bag that she had made), researching family ancestry, and in her earlier years loved driving to visit her siblings in various parts of the country and attending family reunions every other summer.
Funeral services will be 11am Thursday morning at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville, OH. Calling hours will be 10-11am Thursday morning at the funeral home. Lois will be laid to rest, beside her husband, in Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton, OH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation at www.myasthenia.org or a charity of choice.
