It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Louis (Lou) Weinrich on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at his home in Cypress, California at the age of 83.

Lou was born in Louisville Ohio on August 28, 1941, to the late Louis V. and Edna (Sharp) Weinrich. He was valedictorian of the Louisville High School graduating class of 1959. He served in the US army and married Nancy Ebey of Canton, Ohio in 1965. That year, Lou and his wife Nancy headed west to California seeking new opportunities and sunny skies. He earned his bachelor’s degree in physics from UCLA and went on to have a successful career in the aerospace industry with Hughes Aircraft/Raytheon. His career provided him the opportunity to travel the world to such places as the Middle East, Singapore, and Australia.

Upon retirement Lou continued his passion of learning taking numerous classes through California State University’s OLLI program and the Great Courses. From science, ancient civilizations, and art he could speak about endless topics with great enjoyment. Over the years, Lou and Nancy traveled through five continents having wonderful adventures with the UCLA Alumni Association travel. His favorite place to visit was France especially Paris, Normandy, and Provence. Lou was able to take one last river cruise along the Rhine in the summer of 2024, visiting the land of his ancestors.

He will forever be remembered for his great intelligence, open-mindedness to all, and his dedication to all that is important in life. He was the best father any girl could have and a loving and supportive husband. His legacy will live on in all those touched by his kind heart and spark for life.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred Lee Weinrich, and his sister Janet F. Bulger. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his daughter Melinda, and his sisters Virginia Oliver, Mary Wilton, Rose Brewer, Karen Kessler, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of funeral services, a celebration of Lou’s life will be held at a later date.
