Margaret A. (Miday) Collins, went to be with our Lord on Monday, January 16, 2023. Margaret was born in Louisville, Ohio on June 9, 1936. Graduating from Louisville High School, class of 1954, she met and married Jim Collins. They were then off to Columbus, Ohio for school, and onto the Cleveland area for work, ultimately settling in Seattle, Washington. Feeling the pull to higher education and a fulfilling career of her own, she attended a local university, achieving her pre-law degree. After relocating to Georgia, Margaret earned her law degree from Emory University.
Margaret applied her skills and knowledge in the Atlanta area serving as a defense attorney, specializing in non-violent offenses. Following her successful 20-year career, Margaret retired to Newberry, South Carolina. There, she found a welcoming community, steeped in culture and open to newcomers. Margaret grew to love the city and people. She supported the Opera House through patronage and volunteer activities. For the past eleven years, she also volunteered in the office of the Newberry Hospital Memorial Foundation. Margaret will be missed by her close friends and for the years of charitable service.
Margaret was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Serena Miday, brothers Walter and Howard Miday, sisters, Verna Alfano, Marie Haiduc, and Rose Huberty. Margaret is survived by her sisters, Sister Mary Miday O.P., and Catherine (Miday) Householder. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews.
