"Together Again"
Margaret D. Mosher, age 92, of Canton, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on June 26, 2023. She passed away peacefully, after a long, hard fought battle with dementia (Alzheimer's disease). Her son David and his wife Debbie were blessed to be able to care for her in her home until the very end.
Margaret was born September 26, 1930 in Marion, Indiana to Dr. Charles and Leora DeVol. She spent her early years in China, where her parents served as Ohio Evangelical Friends missionaries. From 1938 on, Margaret attended school in Marion, Indiana. She graduated from Marion High School in 1948. She graduated from Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University) in 1952. In 1953, Margaret married L. Edwin Mosher.
From 1953 to 2004, Margaret served in five Ohio Evangelical Friends churches: Orange Road Friends Church, Alum Creek Evangelical Friends Church, Canton First Friends Church, Sebring Friends Church, and Damascus Friends Church. During 36 of these years, Margaret assisted her husband Edwin as he served (as pastor at Orange, pastor at Sebring, and visitation pastor at Damascus).
At each church where Margaret served, she was always very active. In at least one church, she held the title of Christian Education Director. She taught Sunday School and Junior Church; she especially loved working with preschoolers and young elementary school children. She also loved music; her musical talents included, among others, playing the piano, playing the organ, and singing in the choir. At each of the five churches, she actively promoted Missions around the world - especially in Taiwan.
Even after she retired from serving in five Ohio Evangelical Friends churches, Margaret and her husband Edwin continued to be involved in various Canton area church activities.
In addition, for about ten years Margaret led a neighborhood women’s Bible study. She also enjoyed spending time with Chinese and Taiwanese friends. And during her later years, she led several Chinese and Taiwanese Bible studies.
Margaret was a wonderful host, and a very compassionate caregiver. She greatly enjoyed taking care of others, especially her parents Charles and Leora DeVol from 1987 until their passing. Margaret enjoyed music, compiling photo albums, birdwatching, flower gardening, writing poetry, etc. She was a "people person". She made many friends in Ohio Evangelical Friends churches, especially the five churches where she served. She had an understanding heart, and was good at counseling others. She was always willing to give a helping hand, sacrificing of her time and energy. She exhibited all the "fruit of the Holy Spirit" - "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance" (Galatians 5:22-23).
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Leora DeVol, and by her husband Edwin. She is survived by her sons David (Debbie) and Daniel; step-grandchildren Jon (Michelle) Krider and Ashley (Nate) Jones; and great step-grandson Caleb Jones. Margaret is also survived by her sister Esther (Edwin) Westbrook; nephew Grant (Tammy) Westbrook; Grant and Tammy’s children and grandchildren; and extended family.
A private family service and graveside service were held. Condolences may be mailed to Dave and Debbie Mosher, P.O. Box 428, Louisville, OH 44641. Stier-Israel Funeral Home 330-875-1414
