Mary E. (Smallwood) Whipkey-Hamrick, of Louisville, Ohio, age 91 went home to the loving arms of the Lord January 28, 2021, after a brief illness. Mary was born in Adena, Ohio September 22, 1929 to the late Frances and Elsie Smallwood. She is preceded in death by husband Charles Hamrick; her parents; sister, Ellen Whipkey; brothers, Lemoine Smallwood and Donald Smallwood. She loved cooking, teaching cosmetology to young eager students, gardening, volunteering and being with family and friends. She was happiest when being of service to others. Before training to be a beautician she tirelessly volunteered for Canton City school’s PTA organization, Boy Scouts of America, and in service at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Canton. After moving to Louisville over 30 years ago she became a beloved involved member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church family.
She is survived by her youngest brother Robert (Janell) Smallwood. She is also survived by sons Ronald (Joan) Whipkey, Scott (Cathy) Whipkey; and daughter Debra (David) Kraft; grandchildren, Resa (Brian) Bostaph, Martin (Kim) Whipkey, Kelly Presson, Rosemary (Michael) Zito, Joe and Herbert Whipkey; step-grandchildren, Kris Snyder, Chip (Tina) Kraft, Stephanie (Michael) Lane; and 7 great grand-children; and many beloved nieces, nephews and their wonderful families.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date after the pandemic has subsided and it is safe for family and friends to celebrate our Mother’s life together. Online condolences may be left at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com
