Mary Jane Fulton Obituary

Mary Jane Fulton, almost 102, of Louisville, OH passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026. She was born on April 6, 1924, in Chopwell, England to the late George and Gladys (Farrow) Rispin. Mary Jane will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, a caring mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished great-Mimi. Her family was the center of her life, and she gave them unwavering love, support, and guidance.

In 1943, Mary Jane (Jenny Rifpin) graduated from Timken Vocational High School to became a switchboard operator for Ohio Bell. Later she was employed as a Secretary with Weber Dental Manufacturing Company, Canton Ohio. During World War II she was an active member of the Stark County Council on Civilian Defense, an auxiliary closely associated with the Red Cross and serving local hospitals.

Mary Jane was a longtime member of Paradise United Church of Christ in Louisville, where she served in many volunteer capacities from treasurer, sewing groups, Bible school teacher, toddler care to cooking and serving for a variety of church events.

Having married a volunteer firefighter, she was active with the Louisville Firefighters Auxiliary. She always had at the ready provisions to prepare sandwiches or a hot dish for those who were fighting the longer-term fires.

Being a long-time sportsperson, she could be seen at football, baseball, and volleyball games throughout their respective seasons. And, was an avid supporter of the Louisville Band. When there were volunteer teacher aids, Mary Jane served many years with Louisville Elementary and Junior High schools. In support of her local community, she also served as an election Poll Worker.

         Mary Jane and her husband were one of seven couples who were like extended family and monthly played Euchre.  For a number of years, they spent vacations together where they nightly played Euchre.  In her later years she played cards with other Julliard Senior Center members as well as travel to other cities to do the same.

Along with her parents Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband George W. Fulton, in 2001 and a brother, Cyril Rispin. She is survived by two daughters, Barabara Fulton and Jill (Robert) Seaman; a brother, Jim (Mary) Rispin; two grandchildren, Leah (Chace) McKinney and Neal (Michele) Seaman; seven great-grandchildren, Westin, Reece, Maison, and Maddox McKinney and Nash, Tate, and Tori Seaman. 

          Funeral Services will be held 11AM Monday, April 13, at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville. The family will receive friends from 10-11AM Monday morning at the funeral home. Mary Jane will be laid to rest, beside her husband, in Union Cemetery, Louisville, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paradise United Church of Christ.
