Mildred L. Carper, age 96, formerly of Louisville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the House of Loreto in Canton, Ohio. Milly was born in Dover, Ohio, to William and Lena Hoffman on November 9, 1924. She graduated from Stone Creek High School where she was drum majorette. After graduation, she attended Canton Actual Business College. While residing at the Canton YWCA, she met her future husband, Paul, at one of the dances they held. Milly’s first job was at the Hygienic Products Company in Canton as Executive Secretary. After raising her three children, Milly went back to work at the Canton Cultural Center, where she worked for Mrs. Mary Timken. Finally, she ended her professional career at the Louisville Jr. High School as Guidance Department Secretary. Milly volunteered for several years in the Canton Christian Women’s Club, and was a longtime member of the Brethren churches where she served on WMS and various other committees. She and Paul also enjoyed volunteering as members of the Nimishillen Grange, and the Louisville Band Boosters, helping out with their fundraiser dinners. Milly was a kind and sweet lady, very giving, and always thinking of others – living out her faith. She dearly loved her family, and will be missed by many. How blessed we were to have had her in our lives all these years. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul (2005), they were married for 56 years.
