Patricia "Patty" Haubert Obituary

Patricia Louise Haubert, 87, passed away April 16, 2021 after an extended illness and in hospice, while staying at St. Joseph’s nursing home in Louisville.  Patty was born in Louisville, at home, on October 10, 1933 to the late Lawrence (Mickey) and Esther (Haidet) McKimm.  Patty was very involved in the social scene at Louisville HS, (after attending Mount St. Marie for one year), and participated in many activities, including intramural sports.  (There were no girls sports offered). Upon graduating, she took a job at Timken roller bearing, where she was able to put her talents in math to good use.  After marrying and expecting her first child, she left the position to focus on her family.  In addition to keeping a house, mom was very involved in the family fruit orchard business, first on a farm near Alliance, and then at Hilltop Orchards in East Canton and Minerva.  Throughout her years helping raise a family she served as the camp cook and fish filleter on numerous outings and camping trips throughout the Eastern United States.  After retirement from farming, she wasn’t ready to quit working!  She went on to drive school bus for Louisville City Schools, was a partner in Pat and Pam’s catering, and also served as a rural mail carrier for the Louisville Post Office for many years.  She wasn’t a stranger to hard work and didn’t like not keeping busy!  After her work careers were finally over, she enjoyed travelling with her husband on myriad bus and train trips all over the U.S., and abroad, sight-seeing, visiting her children, and hitting a local casino when possible.  She was a fierce competitor who enjoyed her “games of chance”, but especially Euchre, Craps, Texas Hold ‘Em, and their weekly trips to Mountaineer Race Track.  Mom was fun-loving, social, and always up for a new adventure.  She was generous, loving, sometimes opinionated, and staunchly proud of her family.  She was loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Patty was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Donald on May 1, 2020, brothers Eugene, Bernard, and Gerald, and son, Dr. James Haubert.  She is survived by her children, John Haubert of Midlothian VA, Jeff (Christy) Haubert of Minerva, Tina (Jim) Fitzpatrick, of Green, Doug (Krista) Haubert of North Canton, sisters Susan Tournoux, Joyce Rebillot, and Nancy Perod, sister-in-laws Janet Wartluft and Carol Martig, and 11 grandchildren of whom she was very proud.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Patty’s name to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Alliance.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 20 from 6pm to 8pm at Stier-Israel funeral home in Louisville, with a funeral service (to honor both Patty and Don) on Wednesday, April 21 at 12pm at the funeral home with burial to follow in St. Louis Cemetery.   Condolences may be left at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com.        Stier-Israel Funeral Home         330-875-1414
