Richard L. Hudson passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025 after an extended battle with cancer. Born December 30, 1953, he was the son of Robert and Sara Hudson.
Rick loved the outdoors, especially backpacking, hiking, and cross-country skiing. He enjoyed trips to Hocking Hills State Park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and The Wilderness Center. He traveled to New York to backpack in the Adirondacks; camped in the desert of the southwest as well as on the beaches of Hawaii; and hiked through Switzerland.
He was a strong man of God and a faithful friend. His trust in God’s plan gave him peace as he battled cancer. Rick was a longtime member of Beacon of Hope Community Church in Louisville where he developed a loving church family and served as treasurer.
Rick was married to Patti Hudson for 27 years which gave him children Andy (Melissa) McGee and Jennifer (Ben) Holloway, and four grandchildren he especially loved: Eilis, Aine, Liam, and Lucas.
He is also survived by his brother Randy (Chris) Hudson and sister Barb (Jeff) Geib along with their children: Susan Hudson, Steve (Danae) Hudson, Evan (Caitlin) Hudson, and Grant Geib.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Hudson and niece Hayley Geib.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Donations in Rick’s memory can be made to The Wilderness Center (P.O. Box 202, Wilmont, OH 44689) or Beacon of Hope Community Church (1101 E. Main St. Louisville, OH 44641).
