Richard V. Perry Jr., age 69, of East Canton, passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. He was born on October 14, 1956, in Zanesville to Richard and Esther Perry.
Rich was a 1975 graduate of Louisville High School, where he participated in track and cross country. He retired from The Canton Repository in 2017 after many years working as a pressman.
Rich had a passion for cars and motorcycles, and you could often find him cruising around town on his orange trike. He loved creating the perfect playlist, making wine, and hunting for treasures at garage sales. He also had a special soft spot for his two beloved cats, who were never far from his side.
Above all else, Rich loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his seven grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. His wife of 48 years, Sharon, was truly his best friend. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, road trips, and quiet evenings spent together on their deck in their “happy place.”
He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Perry; and his sisters, Gina Holbrook and Mindy Shilling.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Perry; daughters, Shannon Perry and Stephanie (Shane) Doney; grandchildren, Lauren, Ethan, Rylan, Ella, Paityn, Lennox, and Mavie; his father, Richard Perry Sr.; and countless extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
A memorial Service to celebrate Rich’s life will be held at 4pm on Thursday (5/14) at Stier-Israel funeral home. Rich's family will receive friends from 3-4pm Thursday at the funeral home.
