Richard "Rick" Emerson Wilson

Richard “Rick” Emerson Wilson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and community supporter, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. 

Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Kay Wilson; his children, Dan (Karlee) Wilson, Joe (Emily) Wilson, Dustin (Heather) Wilson, and Jake Wilson. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Cody, Gracie, Chase, Drake, Owen, Karter, Levi, Aniston, Tyler, Lincoln, and Harper. Above all else, Rick loved his family. He took great pride in their accomplishments and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. His greatest joy in life was being a husband, father, and grandfather. Rick cherished his friendships and stayed closely connected with lifelong friends. He never met a stranger and was known for his loyalty, kindness, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Wilson, and his siblings, Dora and Mike Wilson. 

Rick was a proud member of IBEW Local 540 for more than 50 years, dedicating his career to the electrical trade and earning the respect of his coworkers and fellow union members. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Rick was an avid supporter of the Cleveland Indians and one of Louisville’s biggest fans. He was especially proud of Louisville athletics and devoted countless hours to supporting local student-athletes. As a member of the Louisville Touchdown Club and a coach for the Little Leopards for 20 years, Rick positively impacted the lives of many young athletes and helped instill the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. When he wasn't cheering on his favorite teams, Rick could often be found woodworking or “piddling” in his garage, where he enjoyed creating projects, fixing things, and spending time doing what he loved. Rick’s legacy will live on through his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his loved ones, his generosity, his sense of humor, and his deep commitment to his community. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Louisville Touchdown Club in Rick’s honor. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
The family is planning a celebration of life for a later date.
