David Alan (“Skip”) Horton, age 77, of Louisville, OH passed away Monday March 6th, 2023 surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Altoona, PA September 12, 1945 to the late Charles and Daisey Mae Horton. David proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the Timken Company as a Special Grinder for 33 ½ years. Married to the love of his life, Mary (Ross) for 56 years. During that time, they were blessed with 4 children who were his pride and joy, Anthony (Gina) of North Canton, Ronald (Kim) of Commack, NY, Michael (Katie) and Michelle (Frank) of Louisville. Also, a proud Papa to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Ashley (Zacharry), Stephanie, Casey, Brianna (Kohlten), Madison, Kalli, Kelsi, Michael, Alana, Clark, and Blake. He was their number one fan, supporting each and every one in every sport, group, or event they were in. There was never a dull moment with Pops. He always lit up a room with his corny “Papa Jokes” and witty sense of humor. He has left us with a forever smile and an endless supply of love and laughter. David is also survived by brothers Clayton, James (Don), and Chester, and one sister Patti. Preceded in death by brothers Jake, Jack, and Chuckie.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Monday evening March 13th at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville. A memorial service celebrating David’s life will begin at 7pm. He will be laid to rest, with military honors, in Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery Seville, OH. Condolences may be left for the family at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com
