Vera M. (Lautzenheiser) Rummell

Vera M. Rummell, age 87, of Alliance, OH passed away September 17, 2021 at Stone Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care. She was born October 29, 1933 on the farm south of Paris, OH, to the late Ralph and Ethel Lautzenheiser. Vera was the office manager/bookkeeper for Rummell Farms Inc. and Rummell Lumber Inc. as well as housekeeper and Mom to her family.  She was an active member at Freeburg Church of the Brethren, serving many years as a Deaconess, in Women’s Fellowship and other positions.  She was a lifetime member of Ruritans and involved with the Washington Ruritan Club’s former Minstrel Shows and Turkey Suppers and the food trailer that visits various auctions and other local events. She was a longtime member of Farm Bureau and active with the Women’s Committee.  Vera and Marion were 58-year members of farm Bureau Advisory Council 2L. Vera attended grade school at Paris and Freeburg.  She was a graduate of Louisville High School and played in the marching band.

Survivors include son Kenneth Rummell and his wife Eileen of Alliance, daughters Nancy Huntsman and her husband Elmer of Sebring and Shirley Rakes and her husband James of Minerva.  Also, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband Marion on April 6, 2019. 

A graveside funeral service will be 11am Wednesday in Freeburg Cemetery with Pastors Mike Zellers and Bruce Jacobsen officiating. The family will receive friends (outdoors) 10-11am Wednesday morning at the Freeburg Church of the Brethren.
