Richard Russell Hartzell, age 80, of Louisville, Ohio went to be with his Lord on January 19, 2018 following a courageous battle with health issues.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diann (Linder); daughter, Debbie (Jerry) Weber of Louisville; son, John (Vivian) Hartzell of Florida; grandchildren, Aubrey (Jason) Hollen of Raleigh, Rachel (Jim) Kline of Alliance; great grandchildren, Abby, Madyson, James and Raelynn Kline, Kendall Hollen; sisters, Marylou (Billy) Davis of Kentucky, Shirley Stultz of Indiana, Barb (Ron) Simmers of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by a son (age 2) Michael Dean; his parents, Russell and Beatrice (Hoge) Hartzell.
Richard worked for 33 years at the Water Pollution Control Center in Louisville and Canton, retiring as assistant superintendent from the Canton plant. He also worked as a plasterer with his father Russell on many houses and businesses in the area. He enjoyed spending time with family, doing home projects, visiting covered bridges and Amish Country, singing in a quartet called the Harmony Four, and compiling family ancestry records. He was also a proud member of the Louisville High School Class of 1955.
Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville with Brian Grubbs officiating. Calling hours will be from 6-8pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Richard will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery, Louisville, OH.
